Stupendous Fightback From 2 Goals Down By CFC
With the recent form of Chinatown FC, who had won 3 and draw 1 for their last 4 games, Chinatown FC went into the games with lots of confident.
Starting Line Up: Davis, Wei Xian, Heng, Boy, Guo Qiang, Ono, Hoe, Foong, Daniel, Hee, Andy.
Substitutes: Rong Guang, William, Monkey, Robben, Mark, Zhen Zhong, Herman
CFC welcomes back Guo Qiang into the team from injury and Herman, who had been missing in action for 3 months.
Referee whistles blown, CFC kicks off the match passing around the midfield. It was a dull and boring match for the first 20 minutes with no one really threatening to break through on goal. CFC had alot of chances but was all wasted.
The best chance went to Andy, who dribble past down the right flank before shooting straight at the Russian Terlepas's keeper.
CFC defending looking as shaky as the last 4 matches with Heng playing as last man behind the back 3 of Wei Xian, Boy and Guo Qiang, much to the keeper, Davis, disagreement of back four formation, who prefer a flat back four.
Soon, the defence was expose to Russian Terlepas who had received a through ball from his team mate, passing through Wei Xian and Boy and was set free on the left. Even though Heng and Wei Xian tried to cover back, it was to no avail. Opposition taken the lead shooting pass Davis who stood absolutely grounded. The defence was messy once again.
It was not much later when Russian Terlepas scored their second goal similar to the first one but was via the right channel. Davis making a horrible mistake by dashing out to stop the shot even though Heng had it covered. The opposition managed to slot it under Davis to lead 2-0.
Much to the shock of the team to trail by 2 goals in such a short space of time, CFC starts to open up the play. CFC starts to attack with flair down both the flank and was soon rewarded with a sweet goal from Hee, who was in a goal drought for months. Robben running down the left side of the penalty box before crossing a low cross which met Hee's head to head it home, narrowing the scoreline down to 2-1.
With believe back to CFC sides, it was just a minutes later before Ono who makes his usual run down the left flank before hitting a low pass for Foong, who also had not score for months, to tap it home from close range. 2-2 to CFC.
Russian Terlepas was shock by the sudden reverse of result. A 2 goals lead became 2-2 in such a short space. But they did not let it bring the team morale down. Soon, they was set free once again by CFC suicidal defending who left an opposition striker lurking alone after he was set freed by his team mate for a 1 on 1 situation. Davis rush out and dived bravely to save the shot to hold on to the 2-2 situation.
Half tome whistle blown with the scoreline 2-2. Davis was certainly unhappy with the defending once again. Monkey also had an argument with Boy, indicating that he wish to play as striker but was force to enter into the fray as a midfielder. Ah Hoe had a relatively quiet games after been played out of position by Boy for been a attacking midfielder. Guo Qiang had a superb match after returning from injury to cover up the back four with an energetic display helping Davis in the defence.
Match restart with a major shuffling of the team, Wei Xian was replaced by Rong Guang, Herman for Guo Qiang, Zhen Zhong for Boy, William for Andy, Monkey for Hoe and Mark for Foong. Davis had asked Heng and Zhen Zhong to play a flat back four instead of the tactic used in the first half.
15 minutes into the second half. Mark received the ball from no where and with his trademark turning shot, he turns and make a fierce dipping cross into the center of the six yard box and was misheld by opposition no 1 and let it slip out for Ah Hee to tap home his second goals of the day.
With the flat back four looking much more stable compare to stopper formation. Davis had a easier match as it was well ushered by the reliable Heng after he was restored to his left center back role compare to his stopper role with Zhen Zhong supporting him. Rong Guang and Herman had a good game too helping one another at the backline.
Soon, CFC extend it lead to 2 goals after Ono, who are at his usual self, ran pass 4 Russian Terlepas players from midfield before slotting it pass the keeper. 4-2 to CFC. 2 matches 2 goals for Ono.
It was not much later with Andy scoring the team 5th goal. It was his 3rd goal in as many matches. A carbon copy of Ono's goal. Andy ran down the right midfield dribbling pass 3 opponent before cutting in for an 1 on 1 situation. His initial shot was bounced back off the right post after beating the keeper but was followed up by he himself to tap it home into an empty net.
The celebration was cut down with our latest signing William, needed to be carried off after spraining his ankle in a 50-50 challenge and also speculation that Ah Hoe are retiring in October for unknown reason. But CFC is determined to persuade him to play on.
4 wins and 1 draw for the past 5 matches with a total of 15 goals scored and 7 goals conceded. Everything looks good for CFC as they are all out to climb up the table in SDS League after a horrible starts, winning only 1 out of the 10 games and losing 7 out of the remaining 9. But CFC is now starting to show others their capabilities!
If CFC were to play like the second half with no suicidal defending. It is just a matter of time before CFC are able to push themselves to top 7 position.
